We’ve been using the book, “Making Brothers and Sisters Your Best Friends” by Sarah, Steven and Grace Mally.  These kids have accumulated a lot of wisdom at an early age.  Their web page is brothersandsisters.net

Training Children

This section is helpful to Dad.  Our society tends to view children as a burden rather than a blessing.  This section helps Dad remember that God and the world view things differently.

God Wants Godly Offspring:

Gen 1:28 Adam/Eve – Be fruitful and multiply

Gen 9:1 Noah – Be fruitful and multiply

Gen 17:6 Abraham will be fruitful

Children Are a Blessing: (Why do we consider them a burden today?)

Ruth 4:13-17 Ruth and Naomi – the child was their blessing

1 Samuel 1 Hannah wanted a child and dedicated him to the Lord

Do you know of any cases in the Bible where a child was a curse?

Teaching, Guiding, Training, Sheltering: (God’s directive to parents)

Duet 6:1-9 Very specific that parents are to instill Biblical teaching into children.

Joshua 22:26-29 They built an altar as a memorial for generations to come

Prov 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go

Prov 4:14-15, Luke 11:4, 1 Thes 5:21-22 – All say to AVOID evil

James 4:7, 2 Tim 2:22 – Resist the devil
